Please DON’T take this post out of context. I have if not grudging respect for “Philly’s finest” * I’ve had not so great service from the “boys in blue” promoting ” protect and serve” on their car doors. But i acknowledge that being an police officer can NOT b the eziest job. The pay when starting is pretty low. When I thought about applying the starting pay i think was $32k or $35K … I was also looking into the Fire Dept @ the time, but i over slept on the test taking day..:( As a Tech for temple University .. I started out with more $$. And no one is trying to shoot at me.
Last night i was driving up Broad street ,and i didn’t actually count but head south was at min 15 cop cars. These we flying down Broad street in groups of 2s, 4s, and 5s. Imagine waiting at a light and seeing 5 patrol cars fly past you. and then 5 more. Interesting to see. I had no clue where all these cops were going but as I continued north.. more cars just kept dodge traffic going south. After a bit.. i’m thinking .. well if all these cars are heading SOUTH then doesn’t that leave ALL of the NORTH side of Philly UN-PATROLLED! But I get in and think less of it. A cops job is to go toward trouble. So i want to be going in the opposite direction anyway .. 
I find out today that an officer was shot last night. Ok.. the “brother-hood ” protects it’s own.. but emptying a city to flood a few city blocks… seems a bit extreme. Like Super-man.. Sure he has speed and is shown getting to ppl just @ the right time… But there are MULTIPLE crimes happening. And bc he’s ONE guy he can only be at ONE place at a time. No matter how fast he is. So while saving a baby from a burning building… 3 blocks over someone is getting rapped/mugged/shot/attacked.. etc. So to deter the chance of ppl how NEED help from getting help quickly, squads of officers are hired to “police” the city. If all of them go to ONE 5 block area ( i say 5 blocks bc with THAT many cars .. u cant park in one block.) Who’s watching out for everyone else. How many 911-calls were IGNORED bc there were no officers available to respond? 
This morning ANOTHER officer was shot… a head injury. U would have thought 9/11 had happened all over in EastOak lane. I was traveling SOUTH on broad this time.. and groups of 5s, and 8s are weaving traffic going NORTH! So now all of SOUTH broad is open! SO if a person want s to go on a rape,shooting, bank robbing spree…. shoot a cop in one area of the city.. and have ur crew ready at the opposite.. the city is URS!
I’m glad to see that they look out for their own.. hell. who else is? When ur a kid ur told that the police are ur friends.As you grow up.. ur told they are just trying to lock u up or worse. So they don’t have the best PR image to many ppl. But i’d feel better if it was known that while ” all available units” are heading to help a fellow downed officer… that the city isn’t sitting unprotected.
I pray that this officer makes it. Not only for him and his family sake.. bc well he was just doing his job… Protecting a serving. But i also hope he makes it bc when the cops do catch the dude who shot him… he’s going to wish he didn’t get caught.
